Lake Arrowhead

The main attraction of this park is the waterfowl on the lake during migration and winter.  Pied-billed Grebes, Ring-necked Ducks, and Ruddy Ducks are almost always present and they are often joined by a variety of other species.  Fallouts on this lake after storms pass through can often be incredible, large number of Tundra Swans, Scaup, and Bonaparte's Gulls are the most likely species but they are often joined by others such as Common Loon and Horned Grebe.  There is a 1 mile hiking trail that circles the lake, the part along the southeast corner of the lake can often be productive for passerines.  Additionally the pines around the picnic area are a good place to look for Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Brown Creeper, Red-breasted Nuthatch, and both Ruby and Golden-crowned Kinglets in the winter.

Accessibility: Open dawn to dusk, no entrance fee.  Canoes and Kayaks are available to rent from Memorial Day through Labor Day for $4 and $5 respectively per 30 minutes.
